Trojan-Clicker

A type of Trojan that attempts to connect to online resources, either by sending commands to the browser or by replacing system files that specify standard site addresses (for example, the hosts file in Windows).

They are used by cybercriminals to:

  • Inflate visit counters to increase ad revenue.
  • Lure potential victims into downloading viruses or Trojans.
  • Profit from artificial click-boosting in ad networks.
